You grew up with the game, but a few rules differ from league to league, and they move totals and handicaps. These are the ones to know.
Winning and Overtime
The team with more points wins. A tie at the end of regulation goes to five-minute overtime periods until someone leads. Before you bet, check if the market is settled on regulation time only or with overtime included.
Scoring
A basket from inside the arc is worth two, from beyond it three, and a free throw one. The PBA has also had a four-point line, 27 feet out, since the Season 49 Governors' Cup in 2024. That's why PBA totals can jump late in a game.
Game Length
All games have four quarters. The NBA and PBA play 12-minute quarters (48 minutes). The UAAP, the NCAA and Gilas games follow FIBA's 10-minute quarters (40 minutes), so their totals lines sit lower.
